Whether you’re casually collecting resources for the future, or actively try to conceive, there are books out there that can help you on your journey!
Here’s a list of some of my favorite books to support all things fertility.
The Fifth Vital Sign by Lisa Hendrickson-Jack
Okay, I’m just sayin’… this book should literally be required reading in schools!! It’s very educational and helpful in understanding our cycles. This can help you to conceive (or not conceive) and honestly is just great info for everyone. Topics in this book include things like what a healthy period should look like (and not look like), hormonal changes throughout your cycle, info on birth control, fertility awareness and cycle tracking, etc. I wish I had read it in high school. Better late than never!
Real Food for Fertility by Lily Nichols and Lisa Hendrickson-Jack
This book is co-authored by Lily Nichols (who is in my opinion the leading authority on prenatal nutrition and wrote Real Food for Pregnancy) and Lisa HJ (who wrote The Fifth Vital Sign). That’s a power duo! Great book for anyone who wants to make dietary changes for optimal fertility and pregnancy.
Awakening Fertility: The Essential Art of Preparing for Pregnancy by Heng Ou
This beautifully written book is authored by Heng Ou, who wrote The First Forty Days. She brings a more TCM (traditional Chinese medicine) approach to preparing the body for pregnancy. This approach blends traditional and energetic wisdom with some science. Heart medicine!
Nourishing Traditions by Sally Fallon
This cookbook is authored by Sally Fallon, who is the president of the Weston A Price Foundation. This book is not fertility specific, but it does offer fantastic nutrition and cooking advice that will be helpful for women throughout their preconception and motherhood journey. It’s a staple in many traditional and crunchy mamas’ kitchens!
No time to read? Look for these books on Audible! You can also borrow from a friend or look for a copy used. When you’re done, pass it on!
